Summer is a short season in Bristol. But when it gets warm, it's nice to know you've got a place to cool off. For decades, the Swimming Hole at the Bristol Dam has been a popular spot on summer afternoons. Perhaps you tried taking a dip at Pemaquid Beach and found the water a little too bracing. Here at the Swimming Hole, you'll find a gentle current of warm, fresh water as it flows from Pemaquid Pond to the north on its way to the sea.

The Swimming Hole is unsupervised; there are no lifeguards, so swim with care at your own risk. For your convenience, we place a portable toilet at the site during summer and fall.
